My Favorite April 2011 Conference Talk

One of my favorite Conference talks was given by Quentin L. Cook Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He gave this talk on Saturday Morning Session. Here is a link to the talk. Read It and tell me what you think of it. I would love to hear from anyone reading this blog. (Even If Its just one person :D haha)

Temple Day

On April 13, 2011 Melissa and the rest of the family went to the Mount Timpanogus Temple. Melissa took out her Endowments! When I say "take out endowments", it sounds like she had surgery. It was a great day, but it was way windy. My dad, Nieces Lacey and Lataya, Nephew Kaleb and I dropped my Mom and Melissa off to the temple at 6:30pm and then headed over to my sisters house to drop the Kidos off so My dad could participate with Melissa and I could go do baptisms. I took my time with everything so i didn't have to wait FOREVER for everyone else to come out. So when i finished my hair and looked pretty good, I thought, I headed up to the waiting room to wait for everyone else. When i got up there, i saw Margery Butler, a good family friend waiting. I was kind of surprised to see her. That made me have that I didn't have to wait by my self. We had a good long chat. About 2 hours later, here me and Marge are sitting and waiting still. Then finally a couple people I know starts coming out, then comes Melissa, my parents, an aunt and some cousins.
All in all, the wait was kind of WOW but good to just sit in the temple (even if it was the waiting room) and just feel the spirit. It was a very spiritual day and I wouldn't trade that for anything in the world. I have a good family!

LDS Church...

Church was really good today. I learned so much and just amazes me how much i can learn. I thought i new a lot about the gospel but i still learn more and more each time i attend church...
In Gospel Doctrines class we talked about the Sermon on the Mount, that is found in Matthew 5. One of my favorite scriptures from this chapter is Matthew 5:16 and it says:
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven"
A question that we discussed was, "How can we be the light of the world?" Well our examples and to show our good works. We don't just go out and tell people that we are good and brag about what we have done. Actually show the good works and how you glorify our Father which is in heaven. Another Scripture that i can really relate to is Matthew 5:10-12 and that scripture says,
10-"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
11-"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake."
12-"Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."
These scriptures made me realize that i should "rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven." I had a really hard time in middle school and high school. I am very grateful for this true gospel and the scriptures for us to read. They do answer my prayers.

Its a new year!! Happy 2011!!! I know its February but i hope everyone had a wonderful 2010! I love spending my holiday season with family and friends!! A lot has happened since my last post. I finished reading 2 Nephi and now i am in the Book of Jacob... I am a pretty slow reader but I am getting it done... I plan to have read the entire Book of Mormon by the end of this year.... I am pretty sure I will have met my goal. I have been trying to study Preach My Gospel.. I haven't been doing to good with that BUT I will work on that...

My sister Melissa has finished her paperwork and now we are just waiting on The Mission Call... God really had been teaching her patience... Its a long process of getting all the paperwork in and everything all set before turning the paperwork in.. In the end, it is so worth it... Missionaries get to have the wonderful opportunities of preaching the Gospel to those who need it in their lives. I am so excited to be apart of that!! One of my favorite scriptures on this topic is found in the Doctrine and Covenants 42:5-6 and it says:
5- "And I give unto them a commandment that they shall go forth for a little season, and it shall be given by the power of the Spirit when they shall return."
6- "And ye shall go forth in the power of my Spirit, preaching my gospel, two by two, in my name, lifting up your voices as with the sound of a trump, declaring my word like unto angels of God."
Just knowing that i can be apart of that glorious work gives me goosebumps. I am so excited! I know that my hard work now will pay off and help me with my mission.

The Power of Scriptures

I was talking to my Aunt Kathy one night and she was telling me about the power of scriptures. She was telling me of a time when she was talking to her bishop or someone from her Ward and they told her to Place a set of scriptures in the doorway of your room and no evil can enter into the room. I have started doing that every night after i finish reading. I have really felt a difference. I am not saying my house is full of evil or anything like that but i do feel the power of the Scriptures coming into my room... I sleep alot better and i just feel better about myself. You guys should try this sometime! It really works...
